About

The Cardiovascular Simulator (CVS) is a user-friendly, interactive simulator which allows the user to simulate different VAD therapy and heart disease condition. Click on the Examples tab to look at the examples and understand the use of this model.

This lumped parameter model simulates the hemodynamic functions of the human cardiovascular system and investigates the involvement of mechanical circulatory support as well as heart disease. The model includes the pulmonary circulation, regulation of the normal baroreflex, systemic circulation, bi-ventricles and bi-ventricular interaction, normal and four heart failure conditions, and the model of left ventricular assist device (LVAD). It employs an unimodal elastance model which takes into consideration the “descending limb” of the Frank-Starling response in cardiac overload.

This website is launched to provide the students and researchers with an interactive model that will help them understand the cardiovascular hemodynamics, the functionality of VAD and its effect on the baroreflex and effect of the heart diseases on the cardiac output.
